🇨🇳 China expressed willingness to support normal cooperation with US companies, specifically mentioning Boeing, just days after Chinese airlines rejected new aircraft deliveries.
📉 Both Chinese airlines and Boeing have been severely affected by Trump’s tariffs, which disrupted the global air transport market.
🤝 This move is seen as a potential olive branch from China, aiming for a stable trade environment despite recent retaliatory tariffs that could have doubled aircraft costs.
@bernardodegarcia:
“China says it’s willing to cooperate with the US after the Boeing spat. This news arrived just now from Bloomberg, five hours after reports six days ago that China returned Boeing planes. China is willing to support normal cooperation with US companies, according to the country’s Ministry of Commerce, just days after Chinese airlines rejected accepting new planes from the US manufacturer, Boeing. Officials in Beijing acknowledged that the tariff hikes implemented by Trump have disrupted the global air transport market, and both Chinese airlines and Boeing have been severely affected as a result. China hopes the United States can create a stable and predictable environment for trade and investment activities, according to this morning’s statement. This measure seems to indicate a kind of olive branch from China after authorities ordered airlines earlier this month not to accept more Boeing deliveries as part of the trade war, which led Trump to impose tariffs of up to 145% on Chinese products. The message came after China revealed retaliatory tariffs of 125% on US products, levies that would have more than doubled the cost of US-made aircraft and parts, making it obviously impractical for airlines to accept Boeing planes.”
