🇪🇺 Europe is threatening to impose tariffs on Boeing aircraft and U.S.-made cars if trade negotiations with the Trump administration fail.

⚖️ These potential tariffs are a retaliatory measure aimed at leveling the playing field for Airbus, which faces U.S. tariffs, and could affect $114 billion in U.S. exports.

📉 The proposed tariffs on Boeing sales are seen as a significant escalation in the trade conflict, potentially impacting Boeing’s European market access and financials.

@bernardodegarcia:
“But now let’s talk about Europe-US tariffs and Boeing, because it seems super interesting to me. Uh, Europe will hit Boeing and U.S. vehicles with tariffs if negotiations fail. Europe will propose tariffs on Boeing aircraft and U.S.-manufactured automobiles if talks with President Trump’s administration do not succeed in reducing the escalation of a brewing trade conflict, according to people familiar with the deliberations. U.S. industrial goods face the biggest reprisals, while agricultural and food products will also be among the main categories in a new list of tariffs that the commission will make public today, said people speaking on condition of anonymity because the discussions are private. Around €100 billion, about $114 billion, $114 billion in U.S. exports would be affected by additional tariffs, Bloomberg reported yesterday. A surcharge on Boeing sales would help level the playing field in what European officials consider unfair to Airbus, based in Toulouse, France, whose imports to the United States are now subject to tariffs, one person said.”
