“Within electric vehicles, we have another piece of news, but this time it’s positive for Lucid Group, which is barely responding to it. Electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid has won a bid to acquire selected facilities and assets in Arizona that previously belonged to the now-bankrupt electric truck company, Nikola, according to court filings. Lucid committed around $30 million in cash and non-monetary considerations in exchange for Nikola’s manufacturing plant in Coolidge, Arizona, leases for its headquarters in Coolidge, Phoenix, and also some machinery, equipment, and some inventory. These facilities combined add more than 884,000 square feet to Lucid’s presence in Arizona. Additionally, Lucid plans to offer employment to more than 300 former Nikola employees in positions at its Arizona facilities. The transaction obviously does not include the acquisition of the business, customer base, or technology related to Nikola’s trucks. Trucks that you put downhill, and they go down, cutting-edge technology.”
