🤖 Korean chip startup Furiosa AI rejected an $800 million acquisition offer from Meta.
🤝 Meta had apparently been negotiating the acquisition of Furiosa AI, based in Seoul, since the beginning of this year.
📈 Furiosa AI opted to expand the business as an independent company, showing Meta’s interest in manufacturing its own chips.

“The Korean chip startup Furiosa AI rejected an $800 million acquisition offer from Meta and opted to expand the business as an independent company, according to a person with knowledge of the matter. Meta had apparently been negotiating the acquisition of Furiosa AI, based in Seoul, since the beginning of this year, according to the source, who asked not to be identified, as always. A Furiosa representative also declined to comment. It was not possible to immediately contact Meta executives outside of regular Sunday business hours, but this shows us that Meta is also interested in starting to manufacture its own chips. So we have Amazon, Google, and soon we will have Meta, Tesla too, and I don’t know what else we have left, we have quite a few, I’m obviously forgetting Nvidia.”
