The city is considered ideal for Tesla because it is now the location of the company’s headquarters, and autonomous vehicles can operate on public roads in Texas with registration and insurance, but do not require special permits. The robotaxi service will feature vehicles that operate without human drivers, using the company’s full self-driving technology. Initially, the robotaxi fleet will consist of Tesla-owned Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.”
